Rees Jones explains Santander Golf Course this way : My style emphasizes the definition. I spend much time thinking how to create in the player a feeling as he prepares each shot .I want the player to be able to visualize or imagine the shot immediately afterwards he sees the target. To do this I try, where possible, raise the tees; inclined fairways ; add bunkers and mounds; and carefully molding the greens. We use natural landscape features that seem to help stop the ball when slightly miss their target and to provide a greater variety of approach shots. Our philosophy seeks to penalize the golf shots in proportion to the fault. Our golf courses are designed with such subtlety that every time you play carry on another experience. High end club, simple things like free range balls leave an impression. Greens fast and true. My main niggle is the course it was not as high quality as other great courses in the area which are also notably cheaper. For thod reason I would not play here again, but it was fun.
