Real Sotogrande Golf
Real Sotogrande Golf course is often voted to be among the top ten golf courses in Europe - and rightly so. Holes 7 and 12 have special relevance, as are considered two of the best holes in the World by GOLF MAGAZINE's publishers. It is the first golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones in Europe.''Sotogrande Old'', as it is called by the locals, boasts mature vegetation with pine, cork oaks, eucalyptus and giant palm trees enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings.The first professional event to be played after Sotogrande's inauguration was the 1966 Spanish Open won by Roberto de Vicenzo with 279 strokes; the clubhouse winner boards show Severiano Ballesteros made the same score twenty-one years later to win the Spanish PGA Championship.

Excellent course. The only thing not as we expected was the totally absence of indications on the course. No picture of the hole, no indication for the nex tee, nothing at all!

We enjoyed the course ,unfortunately they are doing a lot of work on the path ways ,which detracts from the experience,but also appreciate that it needs to be done .

The greeting upon arrival was fantastic, we were very impressed with the practice facilities and clubhouse. The course was in near perfect condition and if anything a little too penal for me and the other 3 players. My wife and I played whilst our teenage daughter followed in the buggy. We were partnered with two young lads, one a scratch golfer, the other off 6. I play off 4 handicap, and my wife off 20, we all struggled with the challenge, especially the putting! A caddy to read the greens would have been a good addition... The two lads were being collected by their parents who we met just of the 18th green. We agreed to go for a drink afterwards and this is where it went really bad!
We were not allowed to sit in the bar as our daughter despite having been with us all day was not a paying player, neither were the two boys parents. The 4 playing / paying guests were welcome but not the parents or children! Such a crazy rule and to be honest spoilt what was a great day.
We appreciate rules are rules but the bar was empty and we just felt this policy was something the club needs to review.
