Mar Menor golf course was originally opened as a 9 hole designed by Dave Thomas later converted into an 18 hole golf course designed by the great Jack Nicklaus. Without doubt this is an ideal resort or society golf course with an emphasis based on positioning the ball in the correct part of the fairway from the tee and then below the flags on the undulating greens. Some of the earlier holes can ‘lull’ you into a false sense of security but when you reach holes 13,14 and 15 all of which wrap themselves around a man made lake, you are quickly brought to your senses. In particular the 15th hole will test your patience as the small landing ‘areas’ from the tees are well guarded by sand bunkers. All facilities available, Club house, Spa …a place to be all day.

Staff in the pro shop were very helpful and the course was in great shape.

Very disappointed to find out that a random person had been added to our 3 ball without our knowledge and it didn’t help when the person wasn’t that social. This definitely detracted from out enjoyment of that course.

Clubhouse and Restaurant were fine same as the last visit.
The course was in a need for some upgrades from the Greenkeeping staff. Tee boxes were very scarce on grass, bunkers un raked and a lot of the greens were full of un-mowed patches and divots where other players have not been bothering.

Fairways are dry and it was full of little stones in bunker sand… easy to play in three hours for two players (teetime 8 am.)

It was 30degrees and although given a bottle of water each, we only saw the refreshments buggy once on a hot day. The club house and service there was good

Could be improved with off street parking and own tee time instead of sharing.

Eighth or ninth time I have played this course as I usually stay in a villa onsite. Really decent course with a few testing holes. It has always been in good condition every time I have played the course. Can be quite a slow play course if it’s busy, there seems to be a lot of non-handicap players play this course which does slow up play. But no complaints, the course set up is good and I will definitely play the course again.

Good golf course with some hard holes, suits a mid to low handicap player. I Would suggest being at the Pro Shop 30-40 minutes before your Tee Off time as the shop can be busy and there is usually only one person working.
